  1. Why Does It Go Haywire? Venting About My Dell Windows 10 Computer

Why does my Dell Windows 10 computer go haywire every time I try to use it? I am 56 years old and started using basic computers in college in the mid 80's. For 25 years at work as an analytical chemist I used computer run software driven analytical instruments of all kinds, all kinds of computers, all kinds of software, plus the computers on my desk for email and writing reports and what not. Plus all the PC's I have had at home in the den since the mid 90's. I never had big problems until I got a Windows 10 computer. I bought it in 2018 at Best Buy and I do not think it ever worked right. I hardly ever use it because every time I turn it on it takes an hour before it calms down, if I am lucky, and sometimes it never calms down. I just sit and watch the task manager to see what it is doing. All I do is turn it on. This is crazy. Uses constantly 100 percent of disk space and I never asked it to do a thing. Programs running all over the place at high speed. And I never asked it to do a thing. And if I dare connect it to the Internet, it gets worse and worse, Unusable. What I want is a computer I can turn on and it does nothing, unless I ask it to, like open wordpad, which is what I need it for. Simple writing of words. I still use my old Dell windows 7 computer because that computer works fine, never does anything until I ask it to. I expect every time I turn on the computer to be able to use it. Not to have to sit here in the chair for 1-2 hours watching the never ending programs go haywire running in task manager. No other computer I ever used in my entire life, countless hundreds of all kinds, ever went haywire when I turned it on like this windows 10 computer does. This really sucks man. I will be afraid to buy a new computer in the future knowing it is going to be a useless hunk of JUNK black box. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

  3. Why Does It Go Haywire? Venting About My Dell Windows 10 Computer

Even when microsoft and other updates were available for windows 7, it was not a constant lopp looking for updates, while the computer was on, it was like once a month taking a few minutes, less than 30 minutes for sure. For some reason this windows 10 computer runs constant loop looking to do things. I have sat here watching the programs in task manager go haywire for hours at a time, every time I plug the thing in and turn it on. It should run like a washing machine, a hand held coleco football game. You turn it on, you do what you need to do, you turn it off. Updates should never be necessary to have it like this. Ever.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
