Windows 10: Why does it say my ethernet cord is unplugged even though it is.

My computer says that my ethernet cord is unplugged even though it is plugged in. It was working up until I changed the speed and duplex of it and then all of a sudden it stopped working. I have tried three different cables now and every time it says unplugged even though it is indeed plugged in. Any advice?

Try unplugging the Ethernet cord from the printer; turn it off (shut it off); wait 10 seconds; reconnect the Ethernet cord; turn on the printer. Also if that doesn't work try turning the printer back on then Reconnect the Ethernet cord. (If it doesn't work try doing either or both sets of step swapping

1. Try doing Steps 1, and 2 in the opposite order listed.

2. Try doing Steps 4, and 5 in the opposite order listed.)

Just to clarify, to which port have you plugged in the Ethernet cord, Is it to the phone jack or Ethernet port?


The Ethernet section appears if you're connected to a network via Ethernet, and is similar to the Wi-Fi section.



I suggest you to unplug the Ethernet cord from the laptop and restart the system. Then I suggest you to turn on the Wifi and plugin the Ethernet cord and check if you can see any drivers identified from the action center from the task bar.
