Windows 10: Why does microsoft store keep asking for a pin when I try to sign into a different account...

I keep trying to sign into a different account on microsoft store and it keeps asking for a pin when that account doesn't have a pin and I've tried resetting the app, my laptop, and basically everything else. It's only microsoft store thats doing this.

Sign in asking for a PIN when I don't have one

When I try sign to sign into Microsoft store, I login, put in my password, it then asks me to put in a PIN, although I have never set one up before.

When I go here it is for a different account, So this method does not work.

Edit: when I click forgot my PIN it just tells me the exact same thing as above

It sounds like you switched your account to sign in to Windows with from a local account to a Microsoft account.


If you wanted to stay signing into Windows with your Microsoft account, you could add a PIN to make it easier to sign in to Windows with, but not affect the password.

If you wanted to stay using a local account to sign in to Windows with, then you can do so and only sign in to the Store with your Microsoft account.

If this is what you wanted, then you would need to switch to a local account again.

Afterwards, you could use in step 5 in Option Two of the tutorial below to sign in to the Store with your Microsoft account, and still sign in to Windows with a local account.

Yes. When you sign in to the Store with a Microsoft account like in step 5 in Option Two of the tutorial below instead of switching to a Microsoft account you will and stay a local account.
