    Why does Microsoft tool FINDSTR ignore the codepage?


    When using help, "findstr /?", ignores the codepage default is 437 and writes bad characters to the output if non-ascii characters are present, linke in the German version. "findstr /?" only works after a "chcp 1252".How can I report this bug if my enterprise admin has disabled Microsoft Feedback Hub because of security reasons reporting memory dumps?

    Codepage Converter alternative?

    I'm looking for a GUI Windows tool for batch conversion of the subtitle codepages (e.g. Win1252 => UTF-8). I've been using Codepage Converter (https://sourceforge.net/projects/cp-converter/Codepage Converter) for quite a long time, but this software is quite old. Can you recommend something different?It would be ideal if the soft could also convert subtitle types, but it's not a must.

    You should add VLC to that list. Plays most anything, except WMV/WMA.

    And are we sticking to free tools? Cause I have suggestions for some that cost money, but are well worth it IMHO.
