  1. Why Does MS Paint Slightly Change the Values of Pixels?

Assuming this is the right applies to,I'm actually at my wits end as this has been happening for almost a year. It appears that no matter what I do within the canvas, there will always be these "shading" errors that occur. In summary, this issue has been encountered by another user, where their moderator left them on read. This is what they said;"whenever I color something with a solid color lets say pure black as an example, after copying and pasting the image even on the same canvas, the outlines will suddenly have these discolored pixels around them for whatever reason. It's barely notic

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you are unable to use Microsoft Paint on your PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

    • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed on the PC? (Type
      winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

In this scenario, we would suggest you to check if you are able to launch Microsoft Paint from System32 folder.

      File/Windows Explorer

    2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32

Step 2: Reinstall Microsoft Paint app.

    1. Press Windows + I key to open
      Settings
      .
    2. Click on Apps and select
      Apps & features
      from left pane.
    3. Click on Optional features and select
      Microsoft Paint from the list.
    4. Click on Uninstall. Close
      Settings
      and restart the PC.
    5. Now perform step 1 and 2.
    6. Click on Optional features and click

  4. Why Does MS Paint Slightly Change the Values of Pixels?

    Undo in MS Paint

Hello folks! I'm hoping someone can help with this. When editing in MS Paint I often have the requirement to 'undo' the last few steps. Currently, Paint only seems to undo the last four - I'd like it to do more, say 10 or 15. I'm assuming this can be done as a Registry hack as there isn't a 'Tools' or 'Settings' menu in Paint that allows you to change the number of 'back-steps'. For example, I believe Excel keeps the last 16 changes in RAM, which can be changed in the following Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Ver.\Excel\Options (where Ver. is the version number of Excel - for example 12.0 for Excel 2003). Create a new DWORD value, select New Value #1, type 'UndoHistory' press Enter. On the Edit menu, click 'Modify'. In the DWORD value dialog, click 'Decimal' under base, then a value between 1 and 100, then OK. See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-modify-the-number-of-undo-levels-in-excel I'm guessing you can do a similar thing in Paint? There doesn't seem to be a similar key for Paint in KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft, nor, indeed, is there a registry key for 'UndoHistory' at all. Thanks in advance, Art
