Windows 10: Why does MSFT Community provide zero info on how to contact DECISION MAKERS at MSFT?

MSFT Mail contacts not syncing with outlook

I did a fresh install of windows 10 pro and outlook 2010. I use gmail as my mail server. In the MSFT mail app when I click on contacts it says it can't sync with outlook and gives an error code of 0x80004001. I have uninstalled MSFT mail and reinstalled
but get the same response.

 

MSFT Acct vs. Outlook Acct on WP8

Hi, I'm using a WP8 Lumia 920. Under Account settings I have the default 'msft acct' and my outlook account. Both accounts use the same login name and password. When I create a contact I can save it to either 'Msft acct' or 'Outlook'... I have one contact
that has both a Msft and outlook entry. The strange thing is the two are different. I would have assumed since both are signed into the same account they would have synced.

I guess I'm a little confused because under account setup for the outlook account I can select to sync email/contacts/calendar/tasks, however in msft i can only select email. Does this mean the msft acct doesn't contain contact/calendar/tasks data or that
those automatically sync and you can't turn them off?

If you have an outlook email address, what is the proper way to set it up, should I not setup the outlook email as an additional account? When I go to outlook.com online it only displays the contact details from my phone's outlook account, not the info
on the msft acct.

Is there any way I can sync the msft acct with the outlook account?

** not sure if it matters but i have a custom domain name so I have an outlook account but my email address isn't myname(at)outlook(dot)com
