Windows 10: Why does my computer keep crashing?

my friend had given me his gaming pc when he got a better one, its not fancy but when he had it everything was fine for him, but he shipped it to me and he had to keep the hard drive for the new computer so I went out and bought a 1 tb hard drive, and had me download the drivers and when i had it sometimes the screen would turn black but everything in the back ground could still work like a video or skype i could hear still but it would turn black then the computer would stay black or it would restart itself, and it would do that every time i played a game or did anything. i took it to a family friend who put in a spare driver and it worked perfectly fine so he deleted the drivers off of the computer and put mine in and redownloaded the right ones. after that the computer worked better but after that certain games would always crash or crash and restart my computer, and so i bought more ram 2 8gb stick and installed them yesterday and after i was able to play games longer but after awhile now it starts to turn black and then go to a Blue screen each time go to 100% and restart. i tried googling about it but couldn't find clear answers i saw other people talk about going into run getting the files it posted after my computer crashed and the System info file then zip it and post it to google then post the link here. also i always click to update the driers, and try to turn down the graphics settings for all the games to the lowest but it would still do it even though my computer says it can handle the game.

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

 

Desktop Computer Crashes

Hi Sumit,

My new HP desktop computer still crashes. I tried following the steps in the link above, How to do a Disk check of System drive in Windows 10 and interpret the logs - Your Windows Guide...

I am not able to complete or follow the task required to allow you to see what happened with the computer crash. I need an easier step such as a 1 2 3 or and a b c, to-do list in order for me to let you see my System logs.
