  1. Why does my computer randomly stop producing sound on my Bluetooth device?

This event happens once in a while but when it happens it keeps on doing it over and over again. I'll just be watching a movie on my laptop and suddenly no sound, my device is still connected but silent, to fix it i usually change the output device to something else and then put it back and that fixes it temporarily. A few minutes later and again. anyone know how to fix this?Windows:Edition Windows 11 HomeVersion 24H2Installed on ‎12/‎18/‎2024OS build 26100.2894Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0

    Cannot use bluetooth device

1 Pairing is done in Settings, Devices
1.1 You click on Add Bluetooth or other device
    1.2 You choose Bluetooth
1.3 If there is a pairing button on the bluetooth device itself then you press that now. You need to check the instructions for your bluetooth device to see how to do this - several automatically go into pairing mode when they switch on, others have a button that needs to be pressed for, say, 5 seconds.
1.4 The computer detects all available bluetooth devices and you select yours from the list. If yours is not on the list then Windows could not detect it.
1.5 It connects - pairing includes connecting
1.6 The computer sounds a buzz in the earpiece then displays Your device is ready to go and you click on Done
1.7 The device is shown in the devices list below the subheading Audio and it shows it as connected
1.8 The device should also appear in Control panel, Sounds, Playback tab
1.9 The device should also appear in Control panel, Devices & printers
1.10 {I just paired some bluetooth earphones as I typed so I could make sure these notes were correct} You use a music player and the sound comes out of the bluetooth earphones

2 If this is not happening for you then go to Contol panel, Devices & printers
2.1 Right-click on the device & select Remove device
2.2 You can now try pairing from scratch again
2.3 Several other users have reported that only removing the device with Bluetooth command line tools - BluetoothInstaller allowed them to re-pair again [see xzion's guidance below]
2.4 Yet others reported that only the KeithM code or Bungee's guidance worked for them [see below]

3 Where is this all going wrong for you?
[I assume we are definitely talking about bluetooth headphones/earphones. I understand that WiFi ones do also exist.]

Several people registered in TenForums just to be able to thanks xzion, KeithM & Bungee. Apparently, what worked for some people did not work for others so each solution seems worth trying.

Why does my computer randomly stop producing sound on my Bluetooth device?

HDMI device detected Windows 10 producing sound but no sound on TV

    Hello,
I've recently fresh-installed Windows 10 Home on my Alienware 15 laptop. I've had it working with an external TV connected through HDMI. before the fresh install. In short, hardware wise nothing should be wrong. Cable, the TV and HDMI jack were working just fine a few days ago.

Since the fresh install, I've got many things to work properly except the sound through the HDMI. I did re-install and rolled back the audio driver many times but still no success. Everything else is up to date and I am out of ideas.

Windows 10 is producing sound fine, I can hear it fine through the headphones when I set the headphones as default devices but when I switch to the HDMI/TV as the default and output device, no sound comes out.

I would appreciate any help. I did try to google my issues but pretty much every suggestions I came across didn't work.

It got solved with a freakish unrelated patch. I installed On screen display application (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en...driverid=41ttf) for my laptop.

This is the strangest solution I've seen yet.

Sorry, nevermind. it did not get resolved. The sound sometimes works but sometimes doesn't. I have no idea what's going on!

Just to fill my curiosity, I tried thunderbolt, same result. However the TV sound works fine with other computers.

I found a "fix", I am testing whether it works consistently or not. It's a very weird sequence:
    1. Open the "Sound" option.
    2. Get to "Playback" tab.
    3. Go to properties of the TV connected through HDMI.
    4. Go to Advaced tab.
    5. Restore Defaults then apply.
    6. Change the default format to 16bit, 44.1kHz then test.
    7. Change the default format to 16bit, 32kHz then test.
    8. TV miraculously makes sound. Hit apply and close all options.

So far this survived one reboot. I will consider this solved if it survives more than 10 without me having to go through this again.

This is so strange, what could cause this?

Playing with input frequency is not a permanent solution, it stops producing sound while booted.
