Windows 10: Why does my desktop look dim?

After the latest updates KB5044033 and 5044285 my desktop now looks like it has a slight grey film over it. The colors are no longer vibrant and clear.Sometimes, when I start my computer in the morning it looks like it did before the upgrade but after a few seconds the grey film look comes up.Does anybody have any idea why this is? Is there anything I can do to get it to look like it did before the upgrade?

Dim Desktop Monitor when no windows open

I followed the steps you suggested. The troubleshooter noted and made two changes. It changed the Power Plan from High Performance to Balanced and it reduced the screen turn off time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes. After rebooting, the same problem occurs.
No change to the screen dimming.

I did notice that, among the items that it checked but did not change was, "Time before display dims is too long" . However, I cannot find anywhere that I can set the time before the display dims. The only display options under PowerOptions>Edit Plan Settings>Advanced
Settings>+Display are to set the time before the display turns off and enabling adaptive brightness.

There's a possibility that this issue is due to the Display settings of your device. For us to isolate your concern, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Is it only happening when you connect your device to Windows 10?
• If it's not connected, have you noticed certain activities wherein the screen dims automatically?
• Have you tried using a different HDMI cable?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Screen Dim Issue

Thank you for updating on the status.

I would like to ask if you are using a desktop or a laptop. The steps provided by Likhitha was for laptop.

If you are using a desktop, follow the steps below.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Display.
• In the right pane, click on Advanced Display Settings.
• Click on Color Calibration under Related Settings.
• Provide password (if any) for the UAC prompt and click on OK.
• Click on next and follow the on screen prompts to adjust the brightness and contrast.

If the issue still persists, suggest you to change the display settings of the monitor using the option keys provided in the monitor.
