Windows 10: Why does my excel file name change when I download it?

I am working on a project for a Data Analytics class and a big part of the assignment is attaching the excel/power query file, and the professor has emphasized that if the file does not have a "LastName_FirstName" title then we get 10 points off. So obviously I made this the title of my sheet and uploaded it to Blackboard, but when I went to download it to make sure everything was correct, I noticed that the file that I uploaded as "Crocker_Luke" was now downloaded as "29da1ba21ced42ed943f940b8fb78285_Crocker_Luke." I am wondering if I did something wrong to cause this or if this happens every

excel file causes instability in "windows explorer"

When I open an excel file by double clicking on the name in windows explorer, the file opens OK but at the same

time, the explorer file list jumps up and down as it lists and de-lists the

excel temp file. It is very distracting. I can close the explorer window or

simply change to another folder. It occurs only on one of my computers and only on some excel files

It happens only with excel files and not with word or acrobat

Any suggestions where to look for the problem. We've reinstalled Office 10 and reset my windows profile. nothing helped so far.

If you desire a name change please do the following:

• Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
• Make sure you have a good reason.

Downloaded files disappear


When you download a file through any browser, there's an option somewhere to 'Open Containing Folder.'

In Windows, to find a file you have downloaded...

1. Open your personal folder by clicking the Start button and then clicking your user name at the top of the Start menu's right pane.
   
2. Double-click one of the following folders:
   
   • Downloads
     
   • Documents
     
   • Pictures
     
   • Videos
     
   • Music

If you do not see the file you are looking for, but know its file name, you can search for it by following these steps:
To search for a file you have downloaded...

1. Click the Start button
   
2. Type all or part of the file name into the Search box.
   The file you are looking for will appear in the list of results.
