Windows 10: Why does my headset microphone cut out after 15 minutes?

I'm using a bluetooth headset that works nicely with MS Teams' calls for 15 min. Then, the microphone is suddenly disabled but the headphones keep working. This happens with different headsets across different applications. The consistency is my microphone sound stopping around 15 minutes into a call. Only solution so far is to restart the application that I am using. This isn't a long term fix as I work remote and have to leave every meeting room every 15 minutes.

Microphone cuts out on Skype and does not work on Blue Jeans meeting software

Neither inline microphone or Microsoft Headset usb microphone works on Blue Jeans meeting software and cuts out in Skype. What steps do I need to take to correct this problem?

 

Windows 10 cuts off USB headset microphone

I'm having an issue I thought was isolated to my Kingston Hyper X Cloud II headset; the microphone keeps turning off after a few minutes of use. Windows reports no errors. Nothing. The only thing I notice is while sitting in the recording devices tab
the mic is working and then it just stops. As if Windows somehow disconnects the mic. The only way to get it working again is by disabling and re-enabling the device and even then it works for another few minutes and cuts off again. Mind you, sound output is
still working fine while this happens.

I contacted Kingston support but after further troubleshooting I've determined the problem lies within Windows 10. I came to this conclusion because I also own a PS4 Silver Headset that functions with a USB sound control adapter you can plug any 4 pole headset
into just like the Cloud IIs. Any who, I plugged in the PS4 Silver headset dongle and used both the Cloud II headset and an Apple iPhone headset and the mic still cuts out for both USB dongles.

I’ve tried everything I can think of. Driver uninstalls and updates for both the onboard sound card and USB dongles and the problem still persists. I’ve tried all the USB ports. I’m at a loss here. If it helps, the computer is a gaming PC with an Asus Z-170-A
motherboard. OS is Windows 10 Pro. Hope someone can help because my next step is a clean re-install of the OS and I highly doubt that’s going to fix my issue.

 

Headsets microphone is not working

Here's what you can try:

1. Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Microphone

2. Click the Change button, then make sure Microphone for this device is turned on.

3. Make sure Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on.

If you still continue to have the same problem after doing the troubleshooting steps, then proceed to the steps below:

1. Navigate to Control Panel > Sound

2. Select the Recording tab, then right click on any empty place inside the device list and tick Show Disabled Devices.

3. Right click the Headset Microphone and click Enable.

4. Right click it again and select Set as Default Device.

5. Right click Headset Microphone and click Properties.

6. Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

7. Click OK
