Windows 10: Why does my keyboard always have CTRL pressed down.

Hey, I've been having an issue where my CTRL key will randomly become constantly stuck, even though not actually pushed down. I bought a completely new keyboard and it does the same thing. I tried troubleshooting, deleted and updating drivers, and almost every other thing I've seen online. Sometimes after deleting drivers it will be ok for a couple hours, before going back again. It never does it right away, it only does it after use for around an hour. If anyone knows a fix, please let me know, thank you.

Ctrl key on my keyboard goes into "sleep periods" and is not registered the first time I press it

Hello, I've had an ongoing problem with my Ctrl key for about 2 years:

• Windows sometimes does not register when I've pressed the Ctrl key for keyboard shortcuts (copy, paste, etc.)
  
  • For example, pressing Ctrl+C will type the letter "c" instead of copying text
    
• However, if I pressed the Ctrl key in the past 5-10 minutes, then it will work just fine
  
• In other words, there are "sleep periods" during which my Ctrl key doesn't work
  
• If I press the Ctrl key during a sleep period, Windows will not detect that the Ctrl key was pressed but will instead switch from a sleep period into a "wake period"
  
• These wake periods last roughly 5-10 minutes, after which it will automatically switch back into a sleep period
  
• Important: I regularly use this keyboard across 3 different computers, and I only have this problem on 1 of the 3 computers
  

How do I fix this so that Windows will always register the Ctrl key when pressed? (Thank you in advance!)

 

Computer acts as if the CTRL key is pressed down when it is not

I've been experiencing an issue with my pc (Windows 10) recently where my computer acts as if the CTRL key is pressed down when in fact it is not. For example, typing "w" in a web browser executes the CTRL + w command, and so forth. Viewing the onscreen
keyboard confirms that the CTRL key is pressed down. Here are the things I have tried to fix this:

• press both CTRL keys for 15 seconds
• turn off sticky keys, toggle keys, and filter keys
• switch out my keyboard
• plug my keyboard into a different usb port
• uninstall and reinstall my keyboard drivers
• hold CTRL + Shift for 15 seconds
• reinstall windows
• run system file checker

The problem seems to be completely random, but occurs mostly when I'm running a program other than a web browser, such as a game. Any help with fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Keep onscreen keyboard from displaying at startup

Hi Helene,

I suggest to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete key on the Keyboard.
• Click on More details.
• Go to Startup Tab.
• Right click on Onscreen Keyboard And select
  disable.
