Windows 10: Why does my keyboard only types numbers on the log in Page, once logged in it is ok.

Hi Can anyone help.I have managed with the help of this community via a previous post to get my Acer laptop keyboard typing number and letters once I am logged in but the problem now is that unless I am logged in my keyboard does not work properly. If I log out and the local log in screen comes up it will only allow me to type numbers. I managed to change my local log in to all numbers so can get into the laptop but do not understand why the keyboard will not type letters on the local log in screen page on my laptop.I tried getting rid of local log in and logging straight into Microsoft but it

• When you say, "generic circle above my log-in name" what exactly are you referring to?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Click on Start.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Account.
• Under Accounts, select the option "Your account".
• Under Your picture, click on
  Browse option and you may select the picture of your choice so that it is display on your account sign-in page.

If the above steps doesn't work, I want you to send us a screenshot of the issue so that we can assist you accordingly.

Only write one number to log file and delete old ones?

Hey,

I'm trying to have some software read from a .text file a number (GPU Temp) but the software will only the first number in a list (Or the first anything)

Is there a way to have to log file delete the previous entries and write the new number in it's place without any headers?

I have some webcam software that can read a number (or whatever) from a text file and then it displays the number as an overlay.

I was trying to use GPU-z to do this but as it logs as a list the webcam software can't update properly (also it reads the headings of the file and displays them instead)

Is there anyway to alter the logging to only output just the number (GPU Temp) and to delete the old numbers so the new value is the only value in the file.

 

Log on welcome page

Let's see if the Test account exists and is useable:

1. Create a desktop shortcut for cmd.exe.
2. Right-click this shortcut, then left-click "Run as administrator".
3. Accept the challenge. You will get a black frame.
4. Type this command and press Enter:
   
   echo %UserName%
5. Make a note of your user name. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
6. Open this web page:
   
   6 Ways to Hide User Account from Windows 10 Login Screen
7. Scroll down until you reach this heading:
   
   Enable Interactive Logon Via The Registry
8. Either carry out the registry modification "DontDisplayLastUserName" or download, unzip and run the registry files.
9. Log off.
10. Click anywhere on the screen to get the logon prompt.
11. Log on as Test / 123456

Does it work?

You can now log off, then log on under the account name you noted in Step 5 above.

To reverse the change you must set the registry data for DontDisplayLastUserName to 0.
