Windows 10: why does my keyboard type wrong random letters

when I enter a single number/numeral or letter, the screen shows a completely different character including symbolsHow do I correct this?

Windows 11 Laptop keyboard types wrong letters

Hi, my keyboard started a few weeks ago to type the wrong letters when pressing keys. It happens randomly and out of nowhere, for example, right now it works fine but when trying to save a file from any browser it starts to type random letters when trying to name the file. (usually it can happen anywhere any app including the system,)

I tried to connect a keyboard and the problem persists, the on screen keyboard works just fine.

After examining its behavior, it seems that It's not totally random but instead it cycles constantly between all of the main keys ( 1234567890-=qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;'zxcvbnm,./ ) in the same order always. But I'm not completely sure that it has been always like this.

I tried uninstalling all of the keyboard and HID drivers from the device manager, doing a "sfc /scannow" and running a deep anti virus check. Nothing worked!

I have an Asus 5600QM windows 11 with all of the latest updates, if that info is usefull.

If anyone has any suggestion to try other than a reset because I have a lot of files and apps, I would be thankful!

Keyboard issues... typing the wrong letters

Hi, I have been having issues with the keyboard typing the wrong letters and punctuation, as I type. I have tried numerous keyboards and get the same results.

 

Keyboard typing random letters

I am running Windows 10 build 18945 and random applications (most of them) are getting typed in random letters. I have found many things saying check your input language but i only have one that is English (US).

And the random letter a key will type is not always the same. I can hold down 'a' for instance and it'll type a series of numbers and letters. So it is not consistent

Example, copy and pasted holding down 'a'

One of the only applications that correctly recognizes the input is Firefox

Pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue, because it is not in all applications.

This is an integrated keyboard in the Lenovo ThinkPad T430s

It also seems to be intermittent

EDIT If i remember right, this started around disabling credential and device guard (I can't use any emulator/virtualization with them on because the virtualization is then exclsuively used by Hyper-V, and i needed to run Intel HAXM)
