Windows 10: Why does my laptop become again get slower and more strange behavior happening as I don't...

My 9 years Toshibal Satellite L55-A5226 laptop turning 10 this january, as I open it, I waited 10 minutes to load the desktop. Then I opened the chrome with facebook and reddit. Then it takes more than 2 minutes to open properly. I'm get annoyed, so I balanced the power plan to open is faster, but again even the power has balanced, it still slow and more strange behalivor also is happening as I opened task manager. Task Manager is not responding and it's about 2 minutes ans still not response, but instead, the message is pop up "task manager isn't responding" with options like "close the progr

Laptop Battery Strange Behavior

Recently, I noticed a strange behavior in my laptop's battery.

Whenever it is plugged it shows 100% charge but when I unplugged it, it went down to 0 and then computer shut down.

I kept it unplugged and then restart the laptop. It started up despite all warnings about the critical battery level and even worked for over an hour before I plugged it again! After plugged it again, it charged up to 34%. Again, when it is plugged, it shows
100 and when unplugged shows 34.

I am not sure if it is a hardware problem (battery, laptop, etc.) or a Windows issue. I did everything suggested such as troubleshooting, uninstalling and installing the battery driver, SFC scan, chkdsk, etc. None of them worked.

It is a Dell Inspiron laptop (over 3 years old) working with Windows 10.

Any idea would be appreciated.

You could try running these BEFORE it gets hot:
task manager: Details view




and Process Explorer (free from MS) once you've identified a process of interest, you can capture a graph of usage - I've shown two here:

You can also try a clean boot (Google or see tutorial if unsure) and compare what happens.

 

Strange update behavior

My Dell W10 laptop hasn't been used for about a year, so I attempted to use Windows Update to bring it up to speed: 1) it was stuck on "updates are available/downloading 0%)" for several hours; 2) when it finally "finished", there were 5 updates listed;
3) when I selected download, they quickly disappeared one-by-one, and the computer went back to step 1 again. This has happened numerous times now.

When I look in the c:/windows/software distribution folder, I can see the 5 update folders there; so it appears that the updates are downloading but not installing. Strangely, my installed updates screen shows no update history/blank.

I even tried reinstalling W10 using a flash drive created on another W10 laptop. It installed fine, but the problem still exists. One strange thing about the reinstall though: the other computer was at 14.343.351, but the problem laptop still shows 14.343.0;
shouldn't it have updated to the .351 level with the reinstall?

The update troubleshooter did not find any problems.

How do I solve this Windows Update problem?
