Windows 10: Why does my laptop keep thinking I have plugged in headphones, when I have not?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad - or a ThinkPad E15 - and it is a few years old by now, but nothing that would make it a bad laptop.My problem with my laptop is that it keeps thinking I am plugging in headphones via the aux, but I am in fact not plugging anything into the aux - so why does my laptop continuesly think I am plugging something in the aux? Could it be that something is stuck in there, or is it a laptop malfunction maybe?Also whenever the litte box asking if I have plugged something into the aux shows up, I have pressed ok, as if I had plugged something in the aux, but the audio doesn't c

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.

 

Lumia 920 thinks the headphones are still plugged in

Last night I was listening to musc on my Lumia 920. I unplugged the headphones and wnet to use the phone a few minutes later. no sound comes out tof the speakers now the headphones sill work great, but it I cannot make a call without my headset now.
I know the phone thinks the headphones are plugged in, because the sounds settings allow me to adjust the equalizer (w/o headphones plugged in this option is not available). I tried a factory reset, and the problem still exists. ANy suggestions fromt he

Computer Won't Auto Change the Playback Device When Headphones Plugged In/Out

Is the issue specific to only Headphones/ Does External Speaker play when plugged in?

I suggest you to try resetting the default device as shown in the steps given below and check if the issue persists.

  Plug in the Headphones in the machine.
  
• 
  Go to Start and Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select 'Hardware and Sound'.
  
• 
  Click 'Change system sounds'.
  
• 
  Click 'Playback' tab. (It should then show you your headphones in the list).
  
• 
  Select your proper Headphone device from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.
  
• 
  Now unplug your Headphones and select speakers from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.
