I'm experiencing screen flickering issues on my laptop, but only under specific conditions. The problem begins when I change the display refresh rate from 60Hz to 144Hz. The flickering occurs exclusively while using web browsers—specifically Google Chrome and Brave. Among the two, Chrome triggers the flickering more frequently, while Brave causes it occasionally. Other applications and general system usage do not seem to be affected. This leads me to believe the issue may be related to how these browsers interact with the system at a higher refresh rate.

ASUS laptop screen flickering. Refresh rate.

My ASUS TUf F17 Gaming laptop screen flickers between 2 second intervals. The laptop is 2.5 years old. It only started flickering recently. Maybe after an update of windows 11, I don't remember seeing it before. At first it used to be random, and happens only when i was gaming. Later it developed into non stop flickering with couple seconds intervals. The screens jumps and flickers from down to up with horizontal lines tearing the display up, even the top of the display and icons are seen flickering at the bottom of the display as the flicker jumps up and down. Ive tried almost everything i read as answers on such related queries. Ive installed all the updated of both my Intel and Nvidia display adapters. Ive even uninstalled them and re updated them. The only thing i can do to stop the flickering it seems is to change my refresh rate. It worked fine all this time on 144Hz as default. Now i can only have a clear screen on the default lowest 60Hz. But as soon as i start gaming it starts to flicker again, and don't stop even if i change refresh rates mid game. I cant use 144 or 72 only 60. that too only for anything but gaming. I want to play games. I don't know what else to do. Please help!

Screen refresh rate is the rate at which the data displayed on screen is refreshed; it may be an image or some text document. Most of the users would like to set it to a higher rate but this also depends on the capacity of graphic
card and monitors. If the refresh rate is slow, the images on the display looks as flickering to the user eye and makes it uncomfortable to work.

Nowadays the latest monitors available in market will have minimum 60 Hz of refresh rate and it is very good option to set it to 70 Hz if you your monitor is compatible. Normally a high performance or quality monitors can reach
120 Hz of refresh rate. So I would suggest you to set your monitor refresh rate as higher as possible, below given steps describes how to access this feature on your Windows 8.1/10 PC.

• The default refresh rate setting is 60 Hertz (HZ); however, your monitor may support a higher setting. Check your manufacturer's documentation for information about the settings that your monitor supports.
• If you use a higher refresh rate, you can reduce the rate that your screen flickers; however, if you specify a refresh rate that is too high for your monitor, your screen may become unusable and your hardware may be damaged.
• Changes to the refresh rate affect all users that log on to the computer.

I would, as of now, suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer's support website and install the latest display and chipset drivers available for the latest operating system (currently it would be 8.1 in the list).

My laptop screen flickers in games if variable refresh rate is enabled.

Hello. I have an acer nitro 5 with a 165hz screen. If I enable variable refresh rate in windows graphics settings my screen starts flickering in games. Task Manager does not flicker. There is no flicker anywhere else, only in games. The flickering looks like I have the wrong refresh rate set. If I turn vrr off the flickering goes away but my fps gets blocked. I have tried different nvidia drivers and the flicker looks different with different driver versions. I have a driver Intel corporation display 30.0.101.1273. Why is this happening?
