  2. My voice sounds like a robot, what to do?

I have some audio software problem that makes my podcast recordings to sound like a bat fifties sci-fi robot made them.

Listen to mic test here at pCloud (no download needed)

I have no idea where to start to sort this out. There are probably no hardware problems since it sometimes works after a computer restart.

Anyone with the knowhow about sound drivers and settings in windows this is your time to shine Why does my mic start sounding like a robot when i play heavier games and how do i fix it? ;)

The background tech info is here:

    • Operating system Windows 10
    • Recording software Audacity (It sounds the same in other programs as well)
    • Soundcard Focusrite Scarlett Solo (Converts analogue to digital)
    • Mic connected to the Focusrite is a ElectroVoice RE20

  3. Sound Starts Sounding Like a Dalek/Robot

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you have experienced.

The problem might lies with the sound drivers or might be with the hardware device. Try with the below mentioned troubleshooting steps and see if it works.

    • Open Start, enter Device Manager, and select it from the list of results. Under
Sound, video, and game controllers, select your sound card, open it, select the
Driver tab, and select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

    • If those steps didn't work, try uninstalling your audio driver: open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the audio driver, and select
Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

    • If that didn't work, try using the generic audio driver that comes with Windows. Here's how: in
Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) your audio driver >
Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software
      > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select
High Definition Audio Device, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.
    Do refer the article

Why does my mic start sounding like a robot when i play heavier games and how do i fix it?

Sound Starts Sounding Like a Dalek/Robot

Sound from streaming video/Free To Air tuner starts sounding like a Dalek after some random amount of time. To get it working again, I have to stop the application and restart it. This does fix it, but it's very annoying in the middle of a movie.

I use an exteranl DAC via USB. The problem doesn't seem to occur when I use Foobar to play via the lossless mode direct to the USB. If there are two streaming or TV applications open when it occurs, both have to be restarted. This makes it look like the
sound subsystem is getting messed up and only stopping it and restarting it fixes it.

Can anyone suggest where to start looking for a solution? Is this happening to others?

    Thanks

    Gordon
