Windows 10: Why does my Microsoft Account have two types, Personal or Work?!

Hi there,


Would just like to highlight an issue with my Microsoft Account/Email Address that i have created, which i only have one account i set up for one email address, because from time to time it seems to always ask me if i want to log in as a personal or as a work account for any free Microsoft services i would want to use, i.e. onedrive, ms teams free, etc..., and its becoming pretty annoying and confusing and most of the times misleading, misleading means i always enter either one of it or still need to think and remember which one to choose, very frustrating and difficult to use! I thought its just one Microsoft Account/Email Address to use Microsoft Services, but this is totally and utterly the contrary to it.


Can anyone please take this issue to the team and see how to solve this issue or maybe make a way to merge both personal and work account together into one Microsoft Account/Email Address instead of every time making us choose which one we should log in to, either personal or work accounts! Kindly make things simple and straight forward and not too complicated and redundant!

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

 

Microsoft work and personal accounts

I have two different Microsoft accounts. One for work and one for personal use. Each account is linked to a different PC.

Lately, I rarely use my personal desktop PC and only use my work Laptop.

What I need to know is, if there is an option so that I could link or merge the two accounts, or maybe add my personal account to my work laptop so that I have my personal settings added and can access them for the laptop as well as my desktop.

What I would need is access to my personal contacts, OneDrive, Skype etc, without losing the respective work options. Also I would not like them to be merged in to one big mess. Like, for example, having one large Skype contact list containing personal and
work contacts.

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.
