  1. Why does my mouse pointer get larger on its own when set to the smallest setting? It's when...

I have an HP ENVY x360 Laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD Radeon Graphics. MY cpu is fully up to date on windows updates and my mouse driver is up to date as well. My issue is, every time I touch my screen, my mouse pointer enlarges automatically. Its settings is set to 1 which is the smallest you can have you mouse pointer at. The recommended scaling is 150% which it is set to. I am unsure why this is happening and would like to see if there is a way to fix this issue. It is very frustrating as I do not need my mouse pointer to be so big. Especially when it is set to the smallest setting.

    :)

  2. Mouse pointer gone

Very concerning indeed. As a first step I would want to know how you are magnifying your mouse pointer. I assume you are going to Settings, Ease of Access, Mouse, and from there you are changing the pointer size.

I followed these steps and I was able to make my mouse pointer larger. So I know it works for some PCs. Just not yours.

Normally I suggest updated mouse drivers but in your case you already tried a different mouse so I would go in a different direction to troubleshoot your issue. First I would clean boot your PC. See if that step resolves your issue.

    Clean boot your PC

How to perform a clean boot in Windows: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Note: The steps apply for Windows 10 as well.

The goal of this step is to see if some other software is running on your PC that conflicts with your mouse. If this step resolves the issue the goal is to try to find the software that is conflicting and disable it, remove it, or update it so it no longer
conflicts. Don't forget to reverse the steps of the clean boot when you are done trying this step.

Can't change the mouse pointer size

    Hi,

There are different ways to change or customize your mouse settings. You can try the steps below on how to change the settings of your mouse:

    • Type Control Panel in the Search bar, and select
      Control Panel.
    • Go to Ease of Access.
    • Select Ease of Access Center.
    • Choose Make the mouse easier to use.
    • Under Mouse pointers, select Regular White or
Regular Black or Regular Inverting to set it to the smallest size.
    • Hit the Apply button, then click OK.

If the first method won’t work, try these steps:

    • Type Control Panel in the Search bar, and select
      Control Panel.
    • Type Mouse in the Search bar on the upper-right corner of the Control Panel window.
    • Select Mouse.
    • Go to the Pointers tab.
    • Under Scheme, click the drop-down arrow, and select
      (None).
    • Hit the Apply button, then select OK.

Let us know how it goes.
