Windows 10: Why does my PC fan run at high speed even when I'm just watching low-quality YouTube videos...

have a PC with the following specsrocessor: Intel Core i3 3rd GenGPU: Integrated no dedicated graphics cardRAM: 4GBOperating System: Windows 10Even when I watch low-resolution YouTube videos like 480p or 720p or play simple, low-end games, the fan runs loudly and at high speed. These tasks shouldn't be too demanding, especially since they used to run fine before.I've already:Updated Windows and driversScanned for virusesClosed background appsCould this be caused by overheating, dust buildup, or just aging hardware? Any suggestions to fix or reduce the fan noise?

Load this checklist video in Edge: (I'm assuming you did at least a few of these steps, since you stated you tried other suggestions earlier) Go through the list of suggestions here to try to repair YouTube for Chrome...

I haven't gotteen to this suggestion yet - but, I've shut down half my Extensions and, now, I get the voice of the Youtube videos - but still not the video. Thought this clue might help.

 

High Quality YouTube Videos Coming

Anyone who has ever uploaded a video to YouTube, or watched a video on YouTube, knows that the quality isn't exactly something to write home about. To keep bandwidth costs and service speed up, YouTube administrators have, up until recently, limited uploaders to 100MB file size, and cropped all files to the paltry 320x240 resolution. YouTube already announced plans to increase the storage space, and now they are planning on doing something about the resolution. All files uploaded to YouTube are of a much higher quality, and some are even high-definition (1280x720 or better). YouTube representatives recently confirmed that YouTube does store the original versions, and only makes the compressed/shrunken version available to the average viewer. YouTube is currently testing a new version of the YouTube player, which determines your bandwidth, and adjusts your video quality accordingly. If all goes well, you can expect high-definition YouTube videos within three months.
