Windows 10: Why does my version of the Photos app in Windows 10 look completely different from the one...

Trying to flip a photo and all the advice says go to "crop and rotate," but in the version I have these are two separate icons and neither has a flip option.

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

• Have you tested if the issue is the same when using a different user profile?

ONLY ONE PROFILE ON MY LAPTOP

• Are you pertaining to the settings of the font inside the app?

YES

• Is the photo app that you're using the built in Photo app?

YES

• What is the Windows 10 version and build installed on your computer?
  • You'd be able to have this checked by pressing the Windows button + R on your keyboard and type
    winver on the Run box, and press
    Enter.

VERSION 1709 (OS BUILD 16299.431)

In the meantime, If what you're using is a photo app that you downloaded from the
Microsoft Store app, I suggest that you reinstall the app to ensure that you'll have the most updated version of your application.

We understand that you are unable to edit a video file in Photos App.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 currently installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the version of the Photos App installed on the PC
• What is the make and model of the PC?
• What is the file format of the video?
• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.



Step 1: Reset Photos App

1. Press Windows + I
   key to open Windows Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select
   Apps & feature from the left pane.
   
3. Scroll and look for the Photos app.
   
4. Select the app and click on
   Advanced option.
   
5. Click on Reset and once you see a
   tick mark, then relaunch and check.
   

Step 2:
Uninstall app using Power shell command

1. Press Windows + X key and select
   Windows PowerShell (Admin).
   
2. Copy and paste this command, then press enter:
   Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | Remove-AppxPackage
   
3. Close the PowerShell command and restart the PC.
   

1. Reinstall the Photos app from Microsoft Store and
   check.
