Windows 10: why does my volume up button open word finder on external keyboard dell laptop

do any of you know how to fix this? My external keyboard does this every time i try to increase volume when im not on app it just doesnt work

So I have this windows 10 Lenovo laptop, and recently i have discovered some buttons are acting weird. My turn up is opening word finder, my mute is opening google chrome help, my turn down button just does nothing and basically the whole top row is all
messed up. What do I do?

 

External Mouse and Volume Keys on External Keyboard Stopped Working


I've been using an external mouse and keyboard with my laptop for a while now. A few days ago, the mouse stopped working. It's a wired mouse and the red light comes on when it's plugged in. At the same time, the top row of keys on my wired keyboard stopped working (the volume controls, mail button, home, customizable buttons, etc.). When I plug the mouse in, it appears under Other Devices in the Device Manager, listed twice as a USB Input Device. When I try to update the driver automatically, it says Windows was unable to. The mouse doesn't work in safe mode. I tried a wireless mouse as well and it doesn't work either. My external keyboard shows up under keyboards as an HID Keyboard Device and Windows says the best drivers for my device are already installed. I've tried all three USB ports and the mouse works on another computer. The built-in keyboard and touch pad on my laptop still work fine. What else can I do? Thanks in advance.

• Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
• Click OK

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Are you using a laptop keyboard or external keyboard?

Adjusting the volume levels using the keyboard shortcuts depends if your device/keyboard supports media keys.

Meanwhile, let's try creating a shortcut key for the Master Volume. Refer to the steps below:

1. Right-click on an empty area on Desktop, then select
New and Shortcut.

2. Copy and paste the location below:

C:\\Windows\System32\SndVol.exe -T 76611119 0

3. Click on Next button and provide a name for the said Shortcut and click Finish.

4. Right-click on it and select Properties.

5. Assigned your desired shortcut key like F11 or F10 by just pressing it in the
Shortcut key area.

6. Click Apply and Click OK to save changes.
