Windows 10: Why does my widgets button appear on the bottom left, but no widgets load or appear?

A week or so ago, I was having some network issues, so I used network reset. After this, I noticed that the network reset had only made things worse, so I used system restore to go back earlier in the day. Note that at point, my widgets were still working, the icon appeared in the form of the current temperature of my area, and when I hovered over this icon, I could see the news, and some other stuff. After the system restore however, in the place where my widgets would be, there's just been this blue and white button, and nothing happens when i click or hover over it. Widgets is still turned

Yahoo Widgets!

Do you like widgets? I don't; but, I do.
Confusing... yes... well, what I mean is they take resources, but can be useful, if you need them or want them.

Well, I got turned onto Yahoo widgets. Seems, they use Konfabulator to build 'em.
I have had no crashes, oopsies(aero conflicts, lock-ups, etc.), or distress from them... so far.

There are over 6000 Widgets, not all good, but there are good ones.
I use the Retrograde3 clock and Yahoo weather widgets.
The weather has never failed to update or load, unlike the problems I have with the sidebar gadgets in Windows.
And, most are very configurable.

Widgets and Gadgets?

No, W10 removed all support for W7 Widgets because they were prone to "infection", so no widget will ever be allowed to install.

W10 removed the generic Start Screen tile display of W8, but put the tiles on the Start Menu. Also, by definition, Tablet Mode means that only the Start Menu will appear when the Windows key is pressed.

If you want an on-screen update on your weather, you can install either the W10 Weather (fed by MSN), The Weather Channel (WU's sister company), or AccuWeather. If they send notifications (weather watches or warnings, etc.), they can be set to appear in your Action Center pop-out sidebar.
