Windows 10: Why does my Windows 10 HP laptop keep turning on from sleep for 5 minute intervals in every...

Just what the title says. Drains my battery and the fan makes a lot of noise. Being happening for years now.

Before putting for sleep, I ensure it’s no longer connected to the WiFi network and airplane mode is on.

Sometimes even after pressing the sleep button and closing the lid, it’s turns on and either I have to manually select sleep or it’ll go to sleep after a while. It’s become very annoying.

Why does this happen? Any background operations running?

Windows 10 - Sleep Works But Only if 5 Minutes or Less

I've never seen at least one them not be successful.

I had suggested first to set Display at 0, Sleep at 1 minute and Hibernate at 2 minutes and then after each step sit back to observe. I have rarely had to work all the way through the list.

Absolute thoroughness is required when troubleshooting Sleep, skipping nothing and asking back if you need any help to complete a step. We often find out later that the fix was the skipped step, so please do not skip any. If you need help performing any step

System goes to sleep after 5 minutes

My HP laptop goes into sleep mode after 5 minutes, even when plugged in. In settings the screen is set to go off in 30 minutes and it is set to sleep after 5 hours when plugged in.

I bought an HP laptop in December 2014. It came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and I never had an issue. Since upgrading to Windows 10 I've had all manner of issues with sleep and hibernate modes. The most annoying was the laptop 'waking up' by itself during
the night which led to the battery running itself flat. I think I've fixed this now by disabling 'Allow to wake up" on every hardware component that I could.

However now if I use the laptop for more than 10-15 minutes, it will not sleep (using the sleep option from the Start button(or whatever it's called now). The screen goes off but the power light stays on and the fan is running. I've left it for an hour like
this and nothing happens. Up to 15 minutes, it will sleep! The only way to get the PC back is to perform a power off by holding the power button for 5 seconds.

As mentioned this has only happened since installing Windows 10.

Any suggestions please?
