I have a 5 year old Dell XPS 9570 running windows 11 with all the latest updates. The laptop seems to randomly shutdown at night when I'm not using it. In the morning, I have to run through this ritual in order to boot it up again:* Disconnect the AC adapter from both the XPS 15-9570 and the wall power jack* Disconnect all USB and other peripherals from the XPS 15-9570* Wait one minute* Reconnect the AC adapter to both* Press and hold the power button for 8 seconds, then release it* Press and release the power button.Why is this happening? Windows 11 shutdown box keeps popping up randomly.

Windows 11 shutdown box keeps popping up randomly Just updated to Windows 11 from windows 10, and when I am just using it in light tasks, e.g. typing document, browsing web, this shutdown window keeps popping up randomly every few minutes. I am running on a desktop PC Dell optiplex 3080, core i5 so there is no power or battery issue. Any suggestions?

The power and drive lights always stay on when its off now or do they turn off after some time?

Just sounds like the laptop is slowing down with things to do. Shutdown and reboot times are affected by various things running.

About the only alternative is a timeout from an issue that causes it to take longer but there's nothing said here that says this is what's happening. The BIOS or its settings could also be at fault.

These are the things you can do:

Uninstall software

Remove various extra accessories (eg webcam, usb sticks, etc)

Disable various things (eg Bluetooth)

Update Windows, drivers, and applications

Reset Windows

Clean install Windows

Buy hardware upgrades if any are available or make a difference

Buy a new much better performing laptop

You can do that according to what you can do. Understand that you can completely mess up your computer in the attempt to make it faster by doing any of those things if you don't understand them.

Of course, in theory its not actually shutdown when you think it is and that could be a driver issue, not an actual shutdown, or something else. The above list deals with that to the first extent. Then next step is far more technical. In the event that list is then its a real whopper.
