Windows 10: Why does Netflix subtitles flicker screen brightness?

Hi,I've just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and whenever I watch Netflix with subtitles it makes the brightness of the screen flicker up and down with the subtitles coming and going. Same problem regardless of which browser I'm using. Only happens in full screen. Only started after Windows 10 upgrade. I'm guessing it has something to do with backlight or resolution but I cannot find a setting which corrects it. I've tried different Netflix accounts and problem persists. Looking for similar experiences and a fix

I haven't made any changes on my device. This screen flickering is only happening in Safe Mode.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
