Windows 10: Why does notepad open my most recent document in addition to the doc I want?

A little while ago I changed one of my notepad docs - which I keep on the desktop - to "always keep on this device" vis a vis one drive. Every since, when I open a notepad document, it also opens my most recently opened document; in other words, it opens 2 docs: the one that I'm trying to open and my most recently opened one.This is annoying! Anyone know why or how to fix this?Thanks!

Hello,

You can simply convert .txt file to a word file by simply using a .doc as an extension. Follow these steps:

• Open file using Notepad.
• Click File.
• Hit Save as, then rename the file. (Make sure to use .doc or .docx as an extension)
• Click Save.

How to view recent opened documents in Word and Notepad on Start-menu

Before the big update I had a few months ago, when opening the start menu, I could right-click on Word or Notepad and it will show some of the recent documents I've opened.

Now it just show's me this:



Is there any way to change it back? Or to add the "recently opened docs"?

How do I get Notepad to list recently opened Notepad files?

Today, right clicking on the Notepad icon on the taskbar has stopped giving a list of recently open Notepad files. This list is extremely useful to me. Is there any way to recover this feature ?

UPDATE: When I left click and right click several times, there intermittently appears the list of recently open Notepad files. But I don't have a reliable method for accessing this list. Grrr.
