  1. Why does Password become incorrect for new devices?

My school has created a team in ms teams and have given all the students a designated microsoft account along with the password for the same. Initially I had logged in using my phone. Later I wanted to make the switch to computer, when the problem began. It seems that whenever I try to sign in from a new device, the password becomes incorrect for that same account. That time however, I had the teacher make a new password and ms teams was successfully running both on my computer as well as my phone.

Recently I bought a new laptop, and wanted to sign in ms teams using my laptop too. Again, the same problem, it says the password is incorrect. My teacher suggested me to sign out of all other existing devices that are signed in and try again. Still no effect. Even the devices that were signed in before are showing me incorrect password too. Why is this happening and is there a solution for this?

    :)

  3. Locked out of device (new password required)

    Thanks for the rapid response!

Fortunately, after leaving the device off for about 30 minutes and then booting it, I was able to unlock the device.

I am a little perplexed though.

I'm 100% sure I entered the correct 5 digit password in the "current password" field when receiving the "incorrect password format" message. If I entered the wrong password yesterday I was prompted with "incorrect password" but if I entered my correct password
I was prompted with "incorrect password format".

Of course, being 100% certain is different to being right so it is possible that this was a case of "human error" -- and that's putting it kindly; maybe I am going mad after all? Why does Password become incorrect for new devices? :)

I've spent a little time this morning trying to reproduce this myself (and somehow reclaim my sanity):

    1) I added an exchange account. I was then prompted to enter a minimum 5 digit code. I entered "24224".

    2) I then deleted the account and was prompted to enter a 4-digit code.

    3) After some time I finally entered "24224" in the 4-digit password-prompt as my current password and "1234" as the new password. This successfully changed the password.

2.1) Here's the odd thing though. Before getting to step 3, I intenionally entered the wrong password to see what would happen.

2.2) After entering an incorrect password ("1234") I was prompted with "incorrect password" as you would expect.

2.3) I then tried entering an incorrect password ("1234") and entering the new password with 5 digits not four ("12345"). I was prompted with "Incorrect password format Here are the requirements for your password: - Your password must be 4 digits long."

Please note, yesterday the "incorrect password format" text did not include any information as to what was wrong with the format.

2.4) I then tried entering the correct password ("24224") but with a new password of 5 digits not four ("12345"). Again, I was prompted with "Incorrect password format Here are the requirements for your password: - Your password must be 4 digits long." as I'd
    expect.

As stated yesterday, the "incorrect password format" text did not include any information as to what was wrong with the format.

2.5) I then finally entered the correct password ("24224") and a new password of 4 digits ("1234"). The password was successfully changed and access granted to the device. This step is the same as step 3. Why does Password become incorrect for new devices? :)

Okay, so in step 2.1 I say "here's the odd thing though". What is odd is that at no point in my latest attempts to reproduce my issue did I see text "incorrect password format" without any accompanying text (e.g. "Incorrect password format Here are the requirements
for your password: - Your password must be 4 digits long."). When I saw "incorrect password format" yesterday, there was no explanation as to what was wrong with the format.

Right, well, I've waffled on for a long time now. I hope this might help anyone else who has the same problem. And perhaps, if you have other reports of this issue, it might help. It would be good to know if this is a bug or just comical human error on my part.

Incidentally, in the link you posted, it states that after some time a message will prompt that the device is locked and requires a PUK code. I spent about 1 hour trying to unlock my device yesterday. I'm certain I entered a password at least 6 times; maybe
more. Is there some way of hard resetting the device if the user is truly locked out for good and doesn't see a PUK code dialog?

    Thanks for your support!

    Regards,

    Mark

  4. Why does Password become incorrect for new devices?

    Correct password is ‘incorrect’

    Hello Amy,

In line with your concern, I would suggest to try using all the passwords you've used in the past and check if it lets you proceed starting in Safe Mode. Also, to better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

    • Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:
    1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
    2. Click OK.
    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • What is the error message that you're getting when you've experienced the blue screen error?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.
