Windows 10: Why does Read Only Allow File name to be changed ?

    Why does Read Only Allow File name to be changed ?


    I right click and set to read only a folder that the current logged in user is the owner of. The folder contains various files, and subfolders.After recursively applying the read only status to all individual files, and sub folders, I check and see that all the files have the read only tick applied correctly. However all the sub folders have a totally irrelvant black sqaure in the read only tick box, which I can only assume means they are half read only ? Whoever thought of this is obviously not too bright, as the folder is either read only or it isnt hence why a check box was used, and the su

    If you desire a name change please do the following:

    • Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
    • Make sure you have a good reason.
    • Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
    • Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
