Windows 10: Why does the brightness keep changing on my Windows 11 Surface?

Why does the brightness keep changing on my Windows 11 Surface? Adaptive Color is NOT enabled and there is no Adaptive Brightness setting. So why is this happening?

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Several reasons can be the cause of this behavior. To help us identify the cause of this issue, we would like to know the following information:

• What is the exact model of your Surface Book?
• Which build and version of Windows are you currently using? (Click

• Does this issue occur when using a particular app or program?
• Have you made any changes to your Surface before experiencing this issue?

In the meantime, we suggest that you check if you will experience this problem when running under AC and battery power.

Changing brightness on Surface Pro

My Surface Pro is always changing brightness without any participation on my side. I tried to
disable adaptive brightness, but the issue is still there.
