Why does the Browser Throw Up Localhost Page Instead of The IP Camera?

I recently added an IP camera. Had to change it from a 10.x.x.x net to the 192.168.x.x net we've got.

Doing that I screwed things up a bit it seems.

I had to change my computer IP to the 10.x.x.x net so's I could connect to it and change its IP.

    Then change mine back.

But I got there. I gave it an IP and saw it there, saw the pics from it, with one of the bits of software I've got for that. Forget which one but it was working alright.

But: when I put the url for it in my browser I get my localhost page !

I have IIS and have an index.html page on localhost. It comes up instead of any sign of the IP cam.

    What could cause that?.

    :)

Unfortunately the Device Recovery Tool doesn't work with windows Vista. You should consider upgrading your system or try with another PC.

Why does the Browser Throw Up Localhost Page Instead of The IP Camera?

Your either entering the wrong IP or you have local host set in the host file to the wrong IP

192.168.x.x sounds very much like the router IP. Mine is 192.168.1.1

  6. What URL are you putting in?

Can you open a command prompt, run the following commands, and paste the output to this thread?

    Code: type C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts ipconfig[/quote]

I am inputting the url 192.168.0.66 which is supposed to be the url of the camera.

    Here's ipconfig etc:

I got yesterday and again this morning no IPv4 and had to go the network thing and uncheck and recheck it to get it working.

Prior to fixing that I'd do a google search and get a lit of hits but could not go to any one of the links. I'd get a messed that the browser (firefox or opera) was having trouble getting that page.

Something is somewhat screwed with my setup.

And that setup is an nbn wifi/ethernet modem/router with all our home lan machines wifi connected to it.

via ethernet there is one IP camera connected via a PoE switch.

There is another IP camera intended to connect via wifi and it too has a 10.x.x.x address right now. It's on the back burner until I get this one sorted out.

Why does the Browser Throw Up Localhost Page Instead of The IP Camera?

Are you sure the camera saved the IP can you ping it or connect via another PC. Does it have special software to connect to it?

Well I don't know what I did but I've fixed it. I did shut down and restart the router because someone suggested it was a router thing.

I don't know that I did anything else. I was poking around in the network adapter configuration thing - like I said had to restart the ipv4 there - but I don't know I did anything else.

The gateway IP was missing so I input that. Got a message about having two gateways or somesuch, was I sure I wanted to do it? I didn't understand so I just said 'yes' and went ahead. Maybe that fixed it?

I was also getting that if I googled something I'd get a list of hits, you know, but if I clicked on any one of them I'd get an error that it couldn't find the page. That's fixed now, too.

Sorry it has turned out such a vague uncertain thing and thanks for trying to help.
