Windows 10: Why does Win10 22H2 file explorer preview pane only work for image and video files?

Just completed 22H2 'upgrade' and now find that File Explorer will not show a preview for anything but image files and video files - not even text files can appear in preview pane... So I just spent HOURS doing a number of online searches about this and apparently I am not alone in this issue, although this appears to be a recurrent issue going back quite some time, so probably NOT absolutely related to only this update. But so far, I believe I've done all the 'usual' things suggested in the online searches I've done, like verifying File Explore IS displaying the preview pane, and making cer

Thank you so much for your reply.

What I really need to know is how get the video to play in the preview pane. Prior to Windows 10, this worked wonderfully and was an asset. Now, it requires making changes to the Windows registry - not recommended due to the enormous amount of issues with
Windows 10.

Any other suggestions?

To enable the Preview pane, open File Explorer and follow these steps:

  In the File Explorer window, click the View
  tab.
  
• 
  In the Panes section, click the Preview Pane button. The Preview pane is added to the right side of the File Explorer window.
  
• 
  Select several files one by one to preview their contents. You can preview their contents if they are text, images, or videos.
