Windows 10: Why does windows 10 deny my printer settings with their own inadequate 20th century version?

Disclosure - I am already hating Windows 10 with a passion, after only a month of use. It is stupid and try to force settings and set-ups onto the user which they do not want or need with its own settings which is NOT what the user wants, or asks for.

I had a week + long battle just to get my display and graphics card recognized - after being promised that Win 10 can run on older PCs. Luckily I finally found an obscure graphics driver from Nvidia for WIN 7 which fixed my problem. Now I am learning to live with flickering and crashing menus when you mouse-over, because at least my display has the right shape and refresh rates for my simple needs.

NOW I am trying to print and compile pdf files - which is easy as pie: You click on a .jpg file, you click print, you get a dialogue from your pdf printer which says the target file name exists, so do you want to A: overwrite it OR B: DO YOU WANT TO APPEND the current file to the existing file OR C: insert it in front of the EXISTING file? You select your preference, and voila! ALL IS DONE!

NOT IN WIN 10, IT ISN'T!

Win 10 ignores my settings which says "Display an extended saving dialogue" when printing as a pdf file, and only keeps telling me the file name exists, and do I want to overwrite it? NO CHOICE => overwrite or pick a new name.... WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO DO! I do not want to waste money on a new printer program because there is no guarantee WIN 10 won't deny me from using its neat features neither!

Actually, do not bother answering this - I will just print the pages on paper, and snail-mail it. Inconvenience is the new norm. Parrafin lamps and stone tablets here I come. Just another quirky problem to live with in 2020. I will see if I can run the program in "compatibility" mode with Win 95 or something... Maybe I should just reload Win95 from my **** set anyway.

Windows 10 Sets Last Printer Used As Default Printer

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the printer settings and check if it helps.

• In the search box, type as “settings”.
• Go to “settings” and select “devices”.
• Click on “printers and scanners” option on the left hand side.
• You will find all your printers listed on the screen, below that there is an option
  “Let Windows manage my default printer”.
• I suggest you to turn “OFF” the option “When turned on, the default printer is the last used printer”.
• Now check whether you can choose the other printers or not.

I suggest you to run the Printer Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• In Search window type Troubleshooting and click on it to open it.
• Click on Hardware and Sound.
• Then click on Printer to run the troubleshooter. Follow onscreen steps.
