Why does Windows 10 File Explorer continue to jump to "This PC" when the settings are set...

It really is so annoying that so many people have this same question yet it is never properly addressed. No matter if I try to attach a file to an email or open a file from Publisher or from Word or from any other program, it opens to "Quick Access" for only about 4 seconds, then it jumps to "This PC" right when I've already started choosing a file, and it ends up opening the wrong file or program and costs me time and aggravation. Again, my settings are already set to have it open to Quick Access. It just doesn't stay there. Please don't tell me to change my settings to open at Quick Access.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. File Explorer Jump List

Hi, New PC Win 10 installed been working fine for about a year. All of a sudden, could have been after an update, and whilst all other jump lists are fine, the File Explorer jump list won't let me open an item by left clicking on it. To open an file
from the File Explorer Jump List I have to right click to open the jump list then right click again to open the mini menu and then I can left click the word Open. This is so annoying when you're used to just left clicking the file once the jump list is open.
Any ideas anyone apart from restore. thanks.

Windows 10 File Explorer Jump Lists

    Hi Allen,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern, however I suggest you to follow the steps below and check.

    • Go to Settings>Personalization>Start>"Show recently opened items in Jump Lists"

    • Even if the item is marked as On, flip it
      Off and back On

    • After this, jump lists should have a recent section.
Also run the SFC scan to resolve the issue. SFC scans the corrupted files and recover it automatically.

To run the SFC/SCANNOW command in Windows 10:

    • Right click on Start button.

    • Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

    • Type: SFC /SCANNOW and hit
      Enter
      .
You can also follow the link below for reference:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

    Hope it helps.

    Regards.
