Windows 10: Why does windows 10 require another license for a VM when a license is already on the...

This is a ridiculous policy. If I bought a piece of hardware with a license, that license should cover that hardware no matter how it is used. I run software for automation from different companies that are not always friendly with the windows resources and refuse to run properly on the same windows computer. I need a permanent VM to load the software in separate environments, but my company will not allow it because of Window's ridiculous license requirements.

VM Licenses

I'm using a Dell PC with a factory installed OEM version of Windows 10 Pro.

My work requires me to use program editing software from many different vendors, these software titles often don't work well and can cause issue with the PC they are installed on. My thought is to isolate them by using VMs with the software for each vendor
installed on it's own VM - isolated from my Host and the other VMs I would use for other editors.

My new PC with Win10 OEM would be the host. Only 1 VM would be used on the host at a time but there would be as many as 10 different VMs I could run on the host.

Can I copy my host OS to the VM with my OEM license?

If I can't, and I need a new license for the VMs can I use 1 license for the multiple VMs?

Is there an upgrade from OEM to FPP ?

Windows 10 upgrade license

Hello guys,

I have 1 license of WIndows 8.1 FPP/retail license. I want to upgrade to WIndows 10, but I one thing is unclear to me.
If I upgrade, will WIndows 10 license be retail or it will "turn" into some sort of OEM license?

I ask this because I upgrade my PC, you know, more memory, replace HDD, and I intend to upgrade the MB and CPU to Kaby Lake platform sometime in the future, (and of course sell the replaced hardware)
This thing is not clearly mentioned anywhere.

Windows 10 VM license

I bought a PC with Windows 10 home installed and licensed then upgraded the license to Windows 10 Pro. I now have a requirement to run a clean Windows installation for testing software inside a virtual machine.

Can I (legally) re-use (and activate) the original Windows 10 Home license that shipped with my PC on a virtual machine that I run on Windows 10 Pro or do I need another Windows 10 license for the VM?
