Windows 10: Why does windows 10 take so long to load?

Why does windows 10 take so long to load?First I should say that this computer is about 9 years old . The welcome screen appears pretty quickly. After I put in my password, It might take 10-15 minutes for the desktop icons to populate. pressing control+alt+delete and then canceling that, helps speed up the process a little but not much. Also browsers get stuck occasionally. I don't know if that is related. Below are all the things I have tried to remedy the problem:1 check RAM memory original 4 gb ok2 plenty of unused space on 1 terrabyte hard drive3

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Long Loading Time for Lock Screen

Hello Pawan, thank you for the reply!

I've tried all of the steps that you've given me. Unfortunately, none of them made a difference except for the clean boot step. It didn't completely solve the problem, however I did notice a
slightly faster load time for the lock screen. However, it still takes an unusually long time to load it. Any other suggestions?
