  1. Why does Windows give me a bullshit 5 GHz connection?

    I've been trying to get a stable connection on my 5 GHz band for like three days now. Windows will randomly have a network fart and will disconnect me from my wifi network for no apparent reason. When I try to reconnect, it keeps giving me those five loading dots and then says "Can't connect to this network". I'll have to do a full network reset to get the fucking thing to detect even my 2.4 GHz network.

    Fixes I've tried: - Reinstall drivers (clean) - Reset wifi adapter settings - Reset my router - Change my wifi hardware - Update Windows

    Nothing seems to help me at all. It'll run fine on the 5 GHz connection for the first few seconds, then suddenly the signal strength drops two one or two bars (sometimes even 0 bars, just that center dot), then it disconnects altogether. Proportional speed drops too.

    I experienced this on my sister's laptop too. I tried connecting to the wifi network through her laptop's built in wifi adapter and an external USB adapter. Same issue.

    I upgraded my router. No change.

    Now on my own desktop build, I ran the USB adapter. Same problem. Then I got a separate PCIe adapter, that too isn't giving me a stable connection.

    It's not a problem with my wifi network or my router. My phone runs the 5 GHz connection smooth like a motherfucker in literally any corner of my house.

    It's not a problem with any hardware, for that matter. I went from a laptop to a USB to a PCIe adapter. No change. The EXACT same problem, occurring in the EXACT same fashion across two different devices that run on completely different hardware.

    2.4 GHz works just fine, but I've paid extra money on my hardware as well as my connection to get 5 GHz connection speeds and I sure as hell want them.

    The only common thing among this situation apart from the problem itself is the OS so I'm willing to bet it's this half assed Windows that's at fault here.

    Does anyone know a fix for this? (Apart from mundane stuff like resets and drivers, because I've already tried those at least eight times in the past three days)

    Thank you for bearing with me here ;_;

    5 ghz network takes forever to connect

    my 2.4 ghz connection would connect instantly when i boot my computer... but it takes about 5 minutes for windows to connect to my 5ghz connection... whats causing it?

    i checked and the 5ghz connection doesnt show up on the list of wireless connections for the first five minutes after booting my computer... also it seems windows has made two types of connections, one is called Wi-Fi and the other one is called Wi-Fi3... what gives?
