Why does Windows go into a locked state again when I use fingerprint recognition?

First of all, I use a translator to give quick answers, so the way I speak may sound strange. When I use fingerprint recognition to log on or log into a website, Windows goes back to the lock screen after 3 seconds. Sometimes it blinks and turns on again, but the screen doesn't come on as if it's power saving, and when I move the mouse, the lock screen appears. It's not a hardware problem. If I create a new user and try it, it works fine. I previously solved this problem by reinstalling Windows, but the same problem occurred again recently. I tried everything I could, including reinstalli

  2. Can I have fingerprint recognition and facial recognition simultaneously active as sign-in options?

I used to have fingerprint recognition on my laptop setup as a sign-in option. I then setup facial recognition as well. Now I can't sign-in using the fingerprint sensor. Is it possible to have both active? Sometimes one is more convenient than the other.

I tried to go to settings to turn fingerprint recognition on and it's listed as currently unavailable.

    I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 2.

  3. I'm unable to activate either Facial Recognition or Fingerprint Recognition.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It seems like you're experiencing a complicated issue with Windows Hello on your Dell XPS 13 9370. Here are a few steps you could try:

    1. Windows Hello Setup: Try to set up Windows Hello in a freshly rebooted state, without any other applications running.
    2. Reset your PIN: Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. Click on Windows Hello PIN and then "I forgot my PIN". Follow the instructions to reset your PIN. After resetting, try setting up Windows Hello again.
    3. Reset Fingerprint and Facial Recognition: In Sign-in options, remove your existing fingerprint and facial recognition data and try to set them up again.
    4. Windows Hello Troubleshooter: Run the Windows Hello Troubleshooter. To do this, go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, then select the "Windows Hello Face / Fingerprint" troubleshooter.
    5. Group Policy Editor: If you're comfortable with more advanced settings, you could use the Group Policy Editor to enable biometric settings. Press Win + R, type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Biometrics, and enable the "Allow the use of biometrics" option.
    6. Contact Dell Support: If none of these steps work, it might be a hardware issue or a highly specific software issue. Contact Dell support for further assistance.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best regards

Why does Windows go into a locked state again when I use fingerprint recognition?

Setting up fingerprint recognition on Windows 10

    Hi,

One possible cause why you're unable to setup fingerprint due to wrong configuration settings. To address your issue, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
    • Did you get any error messages when you tried to setup your fingerprint recognition?

We're looking forward to your response.
