    Why does Windows keep rearranging my window positions?


    I have four monitors, and have my windows arranged in specific places. On a regular basis, usually after a Windows upgrade, after restarting, I find that Windows has "helpfully" moved my windows around. They are always in the same place on the monitor, but are often on the wrong monitor.

    Worst affected is Microsoft Visual Studio. I have the main window on my main monitor, and various panels in two smaller windows on a secondary monitor. Windows often decides to put the main VS window on the secondary monitor, and the two smaller windows on a completely different monitor altogether.

    However, it's not just VS. Windows will often move File Explorer, Thunderbird, etc.

    Is there any way to stop this? It's really annoying.

    Why does Windows 10 all of a sudden keep rearranging my desktop icons? Please don't tell me to check to see if auto-arrange icons is checked. It isn't. I recall that a similar thing used to happen in an earlier version of Windows (maybe it was Windows 8)
    but in that case, Microsoft offered the ability to save and restore a desktop layout. If they can't stop Windows 10 from rearranging my desktop, at least bring back the ability to save a desktop layout configuration so that I can restore it with one click.
    It's too time-consuming to drag and drop all my icons where I want them to be and TO STAY!

    Microsoft, please fix.

    Windows 10 update affects files and pictures.

    When I install the latest build of Windows 10 it rearranges my files and pictures. I am able to move them back into the order that I had them in but whenever I close the window or hit refresh, Windows rearranges them back into the order it wants (alphabetical,
    apparently) and turning of auto-arrange and whatnot does not stop it from happening. Please tell me how to keep my files in the order that I want them.

    They re-arrange mine too but it's after I shut it down because of some malfunction.

    Thanks, but that's only for Explorer windows. Explorer is one of the few windows that doesn't tend to get moved around!
