Windows 10: Why does Windows.Media.Audio.AudioGraph has inferior resampling quality compared to...

I'm working on a modulated signal generator that uses audio render as output. So far I tested two methods of output from my application to hardware: - `Windows.Media.Playback.MediaPlayer` - `Windows.Media.Audio.AudioGraph` My generated input data encoding is always `AudioEncodingProperties.CreatePcm44100, 1, 8`. Byte stream is as follows: - repeated sequence of `{ 0xfb, 0x05, 0x80 }` bytes when "carrier present" - repeated sequence of `{ 0x80 }` bytes otherwise To verify output signal I record it from WASAPI loopback device using Audacity. When the system shared mode default format is 4

Music audio quality compared on N8 vs. 5800 etc

Hi, I have looked at the stats regarding audio quality for the N8 compared with the 5800 (which I have) and I see mainly some differences in cross talk... Has anyone done a listening comparison on the audio output for music on these phones and perhaps any
of the other Nokia media playing phones compared with these two? I am mainly interested in the headphone output but will also use it direct to a hi-fi amp. Thanks Paul.



ps. Would be nice to have an app for controlling windows media players wirelessly a bit like the sonos app for iphone/android but I don't think there is such a thing???

 

Poor audio quality after upgrading to Windows 10

As you are facing issues with sound quality after upgrading to Windows 10, do not worry we will help you with this issue.

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Are you referring to sound quality from the computer/ speakers/ headphones?
• Have you installed all the pending updates and drivers updates after upgrading to Windows 10?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?

This issue might have occurred due to outdated/ corrupted audio drivers. Let us try the below troubleshooting steps if not yet tried and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to run the Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Method 2: I suggest you to change the properties of Windows Audio services and check if it helps.

Steps:

  Click Start, type

  Scroll down the list of services, right-click

  Windows Audio and set its Startup Type to
  Automatic.
  

If the Windows Audio service does not start and you get the error
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start, then make sure that the following services are started and their
Startup Type is set to Automatic.

Method 3: I recommend you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Audio quality suffered from Windows 10 upgrade

Since upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, the audio quality is dreadful - like an old radio compared to previous quality stereo sound. Is this because the Realtek driver and software have been replaced by High Definition Audio Device (so called!) - and how do I get back to the previous quality?

Other responses on this topic suggest that the device manufacturer has to be contacted for support - is that correct? My device is a Lenovo.

Is it OK just to find and download Realtek?
