Windows 10: Why does Windows slideshow background slideshow split some of my saved images?

I save a lot of images I find online in a folder for inspiration to my own art and such, but some of the images are split in two like the one in the link, which I don't want. This is more irritating than it seems in the image, because one of my monitors are 35 inches, while my main is 24 inches.

The other options "Stretch" "Tile" "Center" and "Span" cause all kinds of strange mismatches of other images that otherwise work fine on the "Fit" option.

I've tried taking the image and scaling it down to 1920 width, but it still spans both of my monitors.

Can anyone tell me why it does this, and if there is a solution to this?

Use a Saved Search for Desktop Background Slideshow in Windows 10

Here are the answers to your questions:

• Since when are you facing this issue? Since upgrading to Windows 10 following the standard upgrade path.
• Was it working fine before? It was working fine in Windows 7; it has never worked in Windows 10.

I'm not sure what you mean by "aligning all pictures in the folder". Do you mean put all of the pictures that I want to use in the slideshow in the same folder? If that's the case, although it would produce the desired result, it defeats the purpose and
convenience of using a Saved Search to identify the specific images I want.

When choosing options for the Background, you have two choices: "Picture" and "Slideshow". When I select "Slideshow" and then "Browse" under "Choose albums for your slideshow" it lets me navigate to the Saved Search folder and I can highlight the search
I want. If I right click on that search and select "Open" (so that the Browse window navigates into the Search folder), it shows no files in the contents - just an empty folder with the message "No items match your search." If I right click and choose "Open
in new window", then I see the search results as normal.

On the other hand, if I select "Picture" and then browse to the Saved Search, it shows the search results and I could choose a single image file to use as a background. Unfortunately, this does not allow me to use multiple pictures in a slideshow. I guess
that's why the two options "Picture" and "Slideshow" are presented.

I have also tried the suggestion by zachd [MSFT] from the post below, with no result.

Slideshow background images


I upgraded to 10 from 8.1. In 8.1 I had a slide show desktop background. That carried forward into 10 ( I still have the slideshow background). However, I cannot find where the images are located on the computer. Would like to modify but need to know where they are.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below to set slide desktop.

• Press Windows logo key + I key.
• Click on Personalization.
• Under Background dropdown menu, select slideshow.
• Click on Browse button and then select the folder from which the desktop slide’s to be applied.
