Why doesn't mmc.exe / Event Viewer; Disk Mgmt; etc.. Save it's settings when it closes??

This has been a problem forever for me... way back even to XP I think. When I customize the Event Viewer; Disk Mgmt; Computer Mgmt; Task Scheduler; etc.. They never save my settings. They don't save the columns that I added, or their position; or the Action Center widthit's usually way too wide.. Or the event viewer preview pane height; ... and many other config settings. And it's not all of them in every window.. but a lot of them in most..I'm thinking these settings should normally be saving for the next time I open them. Otherwise, what's the point of customizing these views??I

    :)

mmc could not create the snap-in in event viewer (Windows 10)

I tried the KB but didn't work.

I found this and it fixed my event viewer mmc error

    1. Open File Explorer on the device.
    2. Navigate to the following path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Event Viewer\Views
    3. Backup the content of the folder. The next step deletes the custom views and you may want the backup to restore the views when Microsoft fixes the issues.
    4. Delete all View_X.xml files in the folder (it starts with View_0.xml and increments the number by 1 for each file).
    5. Start the Event Viewer after deleting the files.

    Event Viewer MMC error

Yes I have framework 3.5.1 installed and no that FIX didn't work. I did read that with the new windows 1903 there is an issue with the event viewer and their working on a fix.

Win 10 Event Viewer -- cannot save filter in Custom Views

I try to keep up a custom view for the Event Viewer. Since Win 10 was upgraded I can add exclusions such as ...-1234,-567,-89... but these are not saved upon exit from Event Viewer. Many repeated events are reported and most are not important.

Nor can I find where the filter data is stored: registry, sys32, etc.

Steps: Launch Event Viewer -- find one or more events in the custom view log -- launch Filter Current Custom View -- Add the events to be filtered out (including a (-)minus sign and comma separation. (note that in the current session, the events are
removed as is expected) -- close the Filter Current Custom View (note that there is no Apply button) -- close and restart Event Viewer.

Results: added event filter numbers are removed from the filter list -- any filter brought over from Win 8 upgrade still remain.

Fixing this would be great. Knowing where the data is stored would also be fine.
