Windows 10: Why doesn't spellcheck for saved words in %appdata%\Microsoft\Spelling\sv-SE\default.dic...

In Windows 10 and Windows 11, the preferred language is set to Swedish. For our application, we use the following code: TextBox.SpellCheck.CustomDictionaries.Addnew Uri"C:/Users/XXXXXX/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Spelling/sv-SE/default.dic"; to add a custom dictionary. Our application saves new words to %appdata%\Microsoft\Spelling\sv-SE\default.dic. In Windows 10, this functionality works as expected: when previously saved words are typed again, they aren't highlighted as incorrect. Additionally, the saved words in default.dic can be viewed in the system settings at: Settings ->

Dictionary file corruption is one of the possible reasons you're having challenges with spell checker. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you clear Spell Checking Dictionary on your computer. Follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer, type %AppData%\Microsoft\Spelling into the address bar, and press
  Enter.
• Open the folder for a language you want to customize (ex: en-US).
• You can now clear the dic file.
• When done, hit File in Notepad, click Save.

After performing the steps above, let us know the results.

I'm still chasing spellcheck for OpenOffice Writer

A few weeks ago, I asked "how do I activate spellcheck in my WordPad accessory." WordPad doesn't support spellcheck. It was suggested that I download OpenOffice and I did. After calling up OpenOffice Writer, I experimented with mis-spelled words but could not get spellcheck to recognize the wrong spelled words. I traipsed through as many setup windows as I could find. I would write a paragraph then select it all the click spellcheck. Nothing. I clicked correct as you type. Spelling and grammar button would come back with its box but also a prompt that said spellcheck was finished. I deactivated spelling and grammar. I watched a few beginner tutorials that mostly assumed that spellcheck didn't need explaining, which usually it doesn't. What am I missing hear? I am using Windows 10.
