Windows 10: Why doesn't the new Photos app work with NAS drives?

I get that you are trying to push people towards OneDrive but why have you taken away the ability to view photos held on a NAS with the new update?The new version of Photos simply ignores files on a NAS even when already included in a Windows library and doesn't allow a network path as a location.The previous version - now called Photos Legacy - actually allowed a network path to be directly added as it's always been tricky to add non-indexed locations to a library - but it could always be done until this latest update.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Picture import from NAS drive into Microsoft Photos

Hello,

I just bought a computer with Windows 10 Pro version 1909. (Intel i5-2500 3.30GHz 8GB RAM)

I have my documents and pictures stored on a NAS drive in my home.

Next to the standard picture source location on the C:\ drive I added the location of the NAS drive.

After a couple of minutes the Microsoft Photos app imported all the sub directories (+/- 700). Some of them with some pictures in it but most of them empty or only a part of the included pictures...

I looked already for some solutions but none seem to work. I tried to "fix" the app via the settings page but this was also unsuccessful.

How can I see all my pictures stored on my NAS drive in my Microsoft Photos app?

Or can anyone recommend a good alternative software?

Using Photos App with a NAS

Hello,

I have recently tried using the photos app for the 1st time. I have all my photos stored on a Synology DS1517+ NAS.

When I add my photos folder to the photos app, only the pictures in the main folder are displayed. All photos within subfolders do not populate.

Can this app work properly with a NAS?
