Windows 10: Why don't changes i make online on OneDrive show up on my file in windows

I've turned on autosave in Word 2016 I have Windows 10 and whenever I type something in my Word document the changes show up on OneDrive, however when I make changes to my Word document on OneDrive it doesn't show up on my file. Why does this happen?


Edit: I've just realized that, when I edit it on my Word document on my hard drive after I've edited it on my OneDrive, it stops syncing both ways, which is another problem.

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

Have OneDrive to show me the online files

In Windows 10, this feature has been replaced with the option to sync all files to the local computer. The online files and folders you are referring to are also known as OneDrive placeholders. Instead of displaying placeholder icons for files by default,
OneDrive would sync all files to the local computer in Windows 10.

One reason for the removal of OneDrive placeholders was user confusion, as they expected all files to be available on their system even when the system had no working Internet connection. However, you may want to request this feature to be back in Windows 10
by submitting your feedback and suggestions through the Feedback Hub.
