    Windows--Please fix since you CAUSED the issue.


    Windows updates and ALL my icons on my desktop are replace with blank icons wil little clouds in the bottom left corner.


    I mean, if you are going to continually FORCE my computer to do your bidding, the least you can do is make sure it is done correctly.

    Icons Blank/Missing After Windows Update


    Hello,

    After a recent update , many of my applications show blank files or default application icons. This includes Skype, Office and VLC media player; as of yet I am unable to find what links these applications:

    Why has the last Windows Update caused all my icons to go blank AND have little clouds in... [​IMG]


    From searching online, I have discovered that this is not a new issue, however previous solutions have not resolved the problem for me:


    If someone could identify the update package that caused this, I would be grateful. Fighting off updates generally isn't a great idea so if anyone could provide a way of fixing this through other means, that'd be great.

    Blank shortcut icon GPU-Z

    Ok I fixed it, last time I updated GPU-Z and that gave me a blank icon, I just uninstalled my current and downloaded/installed the latest version and the icon is back.

    Icons Blank/Missing After Windows Update


    I noticed this too but not on any Office or Store Apps. This worked for me, for the few that were affected with a blank page icon- go to Program Files, locate the exe for, say, VLC, and right click send shortcut to desktop. That will display correct icon. Drag shortcut to All Apps list or pin to taskbar and click replace, if prompted. The rebuild icon tutorial suggested may help with the Store or Office apps. Good Luck
