Why has Win 11 started unticking "Connect automatically" and dropping the connection?

Have checked Settings>WiFi>Manage connections several times and the box is ticked but it keeps disconnecting every few minutes and the "Connect automatically" box is unticked even though still ticked in settings. I then tick box and it connects --- only to drop connection again a few minutes later. Absolutely infuriating, especially as two other PC's one Surface Book Win 10 and one Dell desktop running Ubuntu connect rock solid to same WiFi.

    :)

occur due to outdated or incompatible network adapter driver. To rectify such concern, we suggest that you refer to this

    Ethernet Connection Occasionally Drops

On occasion my ethernet connection drops and an auto-configuration address gets assigned by Windows 10. I purchased an ethernet card thinking the problem with the ethernet that is built into the motherboard, but the ethernet connection still randomly drops. The ethernet connection will randomly start working again. Yes, I disabled the onboard ethernet in the BIOS, so conflicts would not be an issue. I have no idea if the issue can be fixed or not. I have had this issue since I purchased this used computer in 2019. If it is the motherboard, then I will just live it with until the computer is replaced. I realize the issue is probably not easily fixable, but any suggestions will be appreciated. The DNS shown is the DNS of my VPN provider. Let me know if you need any other information.

Why has Win 11 started unticking "Connect automatically" and dropping the connection?

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is unable to start automatically on boot?

    Hi,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps that YanisLukes
did to resolve the same issue.

To update your network adapter, you can follow these steps:

    • Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select
it from the list of results.

    • Expand the category where your device is located, then right-click on the name of your device, and select Update Driver Software.

    • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If updating the device driver doesn't work, we suggest that you reinstall the driver:

    • Open Device Manager.

    • Right-click on the name of the device.

    • Select Uninstall.

    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

If the issue still persists, we suggest that you follow the troubleshooting steps provided here:
How to Troubleshoot Internet Connection Sharing Problems.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.
