Windows 10: Why has Windows suddenly started deleting downloads

This problem only started in the last few days last week of January 2022. Suddenly when I download a file, it apparently downloads successfully, then it magically shows up as "File moved or missing"This is happening on both my Windows 10 computer and on my Windows 7 computer. So far as I can tell, it started at the same time on both computers. There was no problem with downloads until just this past week.The only related thread I can find in the forum is about this problem in Windows 10 and the "solution" is to turn off Windows Defender. But Windows Defender is already turned off on both

Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?

 

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
