Windows 10: Why have the taskbar "link" icons changed?

When I open any browser the icons on the bookmarks show easily recognizable icons. When I go to the "links" on the taskbar the icons mostly show as globes. Somehow they got changed. How can I get them back?

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

How to change the taskbar icon for a *running* program?

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions:

Edwin: I think what you're suggesting is more or less what I'd done. The icon is changed to what I want in the Taskbar, but when I click the icon, launching Outlook, the icon changes back (and like other program links now includes some verbiage ("Calendar - ...").

TairikuOkami: I tried what you suggested, creating a shortcut:

Target: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE"
This works and in the Taskbar the link retains the icon I gave it. However when it launches Outlook then a new link (with the original icon) also appears in the Taskbar so that I have two Outlook links, one with the new icon and one with the old. Since that's not what I want I'm concluding that what I want to do can't be done.

To address your concern, follow the steps below on how to show hidden icons on the taskbar.

• Open Settings, and click on the Personalization
  icon.
• Click on Taskbar on the left side, and click on the
  Select which icons appear on the taskbar link under the Notification area section on the right.
• Turn on Always show all icons in the notification area at the top
